Bruce Springsteen, Dave Brubeck to receive Kennedy Center Honors

Bruce Springsteen and Dave Brubeck will be among those honored this year at the 32nd annual John F. Kennedy Center celebration of the arts. Writer, composer, actor, director and producer Mel Brooks; opera singer Grace Bumbry; and actor, director and producer Robert De Niro also will receive the Kennedy Center Honors of 2009, which will be celebrated with a star-studded gala Dec. 6 at the Kennedy Center Opera House, according to the center's website.  / Read more

Dave Brubeck pulls out of namesake festival

Dave Brubeck has canceled his upcoming performance at the Brubeck Festival, an annual event held at his alma mater, the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. The 88-year-old jazz legend was hospitalized late last week with a viral infection, according to the university website. He is under observation at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut and has been ordered by doctors not to travel.  / Read more
