Bruce Springsteen, Dave Brubeck to receive Kennedy Center Honors

Bruce Springsteen [ tickets ] and Dave Brubeck [ tickets ] will be among those honored this year at the 32nd annual John F. Kennedy Center celebration of the arts. Writer, composer, actor, director and producer Mel Brooks; opera singer Grace Bumbry; and actor, director and producer Robert De Niro also will receive the Kennedy Center Honors of 2009, which will be celebrated with a star-studded gala Dec. 6 at the Kennedy Center Opera House, according to the center's website. / Read more

Dave Brubeck pulls out of namesake festival

Dave Brubeck [ tickets ] has canceled his upcoming performance at the Brubeck Festival, an annual event held at his alma mater, the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. The 88-year-old jazz legend was hospitalized late last week with a viral infection, according to the university website. He is under observation at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut and has been ordered by doctors not to travel. / Read more
