Howard Brockway Biography
Brockway spent five years in Berlin studying piano and composition. Some of his orchestral and chamber works were performed in a concert by the Berlin PO in 1895. He also obtained a publisher for his work during his stay in Berlin. After returning to the USA, Brockway taught at the Peabody Institute, the Institute of Musical Art, and the Mannes College of Music. He collected and arranged Kentucky folksongs with Loraine Wyman. Brockway is considered to be one of the most gifted and inspired American composers, and a Romantic master of melody and harmony. ~ Lynn Vought, All Music Guide
