SXSW Performer: Pendulum (London, UK)

"In Silico" means "born from machine," and that's exactly what people can expect when they listen to Pendulum 's album of the same name. Vocalist/producer Rob Swire told LiveDaily, "Even though it uses more live instruments than the last album, everything went through the process of being torn apart by the computer and reassembled in a sequencer. It was kind of artificially made and that's how we chose the name." The UK-based, electronic-tinged hard-rock band plays its music live, which, Swire said, "doesn't happen a hell of a lot these days." Pendulum formed in its hometown of Perth, Australia, in 2002, when producers Swire and Gareth McGrillen teamed up with local DJ Paul "Elhornet" Harding. Their individual roots ranged from producing drum-and-bass, breakbeat and hardcore, to playing in metal and punk bands, and their debut album, "Hold Your Colour," sold more than 100,000 copies.   / Read more
