Dottie Rambo Dies In Tour Bus Crash
Gospel singer Joyce "Dottie" Rambo, 74, died May 11 when her tour bus ran off the highway and struck an embankment, according to The Associated Press. Rambo, an influential gospel singer and songwriter, was headed to a Mother's Day performance in Texas, according to her website. Seven other people on the bus were injured in the accident, which occurred about two miles east of Mount Vernon, MO. They were hospitalized in Springfield with moderate to severe injuries.
Rambo, of Nashville, has had more than 2,500 published songs, some of which were recorded by Dolly Parton. She was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame last year and the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
It was unclear whether the crash was related to the severe storms and tornadoes that hit the region on Saturday (5/10).
