When the Eagles [ tickets ] first toured, they didn't have a name; the group's original members first played together as Linda Rondstadt's backup group. It was a good fit, and with Ronstadt's encouragement, the group decided to take a record deal, releasing its self-titled debut in 1972. The band's first single, "Take It Easy" (written with then-neighbor Jackson Browne [ tickets ]), made it to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. With the addition of follow-up hits "Witchy Woman" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling," the genre of Southern California Rock was born.  / Read more
