Bjork plots more shows, snags Sigur Ros for New York dates
Bjork has recruited Sigur Ros , Yeah Yeah Yeahs , Bonnie Prince Billy and The Matthew Herbert Big Band to open various dates on her late-summer tour.
The short outing's nine shows are spread from Aug. 8 through a Sept. 3 stop in Toronto. The latter date was originally set for Aug. 26, but was pushed back due to "scheduling and logistic issues," according to Bjork's website. Tickets for the original date are valid for the rescheduled show.
Bjork has also moved her Aug. 15 stop at The Gorge in George, WA, to Seattle's Pier 62/63.
Experimental rock quartet Sigur Ros--which hails from Bjork's native Iceland--will turn up at Bjork's two-night stand in Brooklyn on Aug. 22 and 23. Singer-songwriter Bonnie Prince Billy is slated to appear on all dates, while The Matthew Herbert Band is scheduled to play two early August dates, and punk trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs are tagged for a pair of late-August dates. Details appear in the itinerary below.
Backing Bjork during her performances are electronica duo Matmos, harpist Zeena Parkins and the Icelandic String Octet.
Matmos and Parkins performed on Bjork's most-recent studio album, 2001's "Vespertine," and toured with her behind that release. The Icelandic String Octet, meanwhile, played on Bjork's 1997 set, "Homogenic," and toured with her in support of that effort.
Design trio Lynn Fox, which created the video for "Nature is Ancient"--a track that appears on Bjork's November 2002 box set, "Family Tree"--is creating five new videos that Bjork will incorporate into her stage show, according to her website.
This summer, Bjork released several new DVDs--including a concert video shot during her 2001 "Vespertine" tour--and reissued on DVD some previously released videos that were originally offered in VHS form. The most recent DVD--a documentary about the singer titled "Inside Bjork"--surfaced on Tuesday (7/22).
