Widespread Panic plots tour behind new album

Jam band Widespread Panic has firmed up its summer tour plans surrounding the June 13 release of the group's new album, "Earth to America."

The band, which re-emerged last year from a 15-month layoff, has been playing a scattered schedule of shows this spring as it worked to complete the new album. The band's summer tour, which kicks off June 21 in Kansas City, will last well into August.

Additionally, the group's May 9 concert in Atlanta will be simulcast via satellite to participating movie theaters throughout the nation. A list of theaters screening the simulcast can be found through Widespread Panic's website.

"Earth to America" was recorded in the Bahamas with legendary Stax producer Terry Manning. The album will be available June 13 in both CD and vinyl form, and also as a digital download from the band's website. The vinyl version will include two songs not on the CD.

The first single from the album, "Second Skin," is currently available as a digital download from the iTunes store.
