Korn unveils first batch of Family Values dates
Details have surfaced for the first group of dates on this summer's Family Values Tour , which features headliners Korn and Deftones , as well as main-stage acts Stone Sour and Flyleaf , all four of whom will hype the outing with some special appearances later this week.
Dates, cities and venues have been locked in for stops in 10 cities that are scattered from late July through mid-September, beginning with the tour's July 27 kick-off in Virginia Beach, VA. Tickets for all 10 shows will hit the box office Saturday (5/20), according to tour promoter Live Nation.
Fourteen additional dates and cities have been revealed, but venues have not yet been announced. Details are included below.
Meanwhile, details are still pending for the tour's planned stops in Houston; Dallas; Los Angeles; Washington, DC; West Palm Beach, FL; and Buffalo, NY. The lineup for the outing's second stage also remains a mystery.
Earlier this year, Korn announced that it had struck a precedent-setting deal with Live Nation and EMI Music, through which the three parties are partners in all of the band's revenue-generating endeavors. As previously reported, that dynamic will allow the band to price lawn tickets for the upcoming tour at $9.99, according to a press release.
"Ten great bands for $9.99 plus reasonable pavilion seats, that's the kind of thing we were shooting for when we did our new deals," Korn frontman Jonathan Davis said in a statement. "We are very excited that we are able to pull this off. And believe me, the fans are not going to want to miss the events happening this week!"
Those events comprise a Thursday (5/18) promotional blitz that will see Korn make a special appearance in Chicago, Deftones in their hometown of Sacramento, Stone Sour in Kansas City, MO, and Flyleaf in Spokane, WA. Additional details have not yet been revealed.
Korn continues to back last year's "See You on the Other Side." Released in December, the album--which is the group's first under its agreement with EMI--has sold about 1.7 million copies to date, according to the band's publicist. The disc features the hit singles "Twisted Transistor" and "Coming Undone."
Deftones haven't released a collection of all-new material since their self-titled 2003 set. A new disc is expected to surface later this year.
Stone Sour, which features Slipknot singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root, issued its self-titled debut in 2002. The band is currently working on a follow-up.
Flyleaf dropped its self-titled debut last year, which features the group's breakthrough single, "I'm So Sick."
The upcoming Family Values Tour will mark the outing's return after a five-year hiatus. The trek was an annual event from 1998 through 2001.
