Allman Brothers keep rolling this summer
The schedule gets underway in mid-June with a stretch of about a dozen shows that wrap up in early July, followed by a five-show stint with Petty in mid-August, and another round of headlining stops that so far stretches into the beginning of September.
The Allmans' lineup for the upcoming gigs will include Gregg Allman (vocals, keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums, tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Warren Haynes, (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Marc Quinones (congas, percussion).
Trucks, Haynes and Burbridge will all pull double duty on various dates, as Trucks' Derek Trucks Band, Haynes' Gov't Mule and Burbridge's Oteil and The Peacemakers are scheduled to rotate through the opening slot. Details are included in the itinerary shown below.
The Allman Brothers Band released its self-titled debut album in 1969. The group's most recent studio release is 2003's "Hittin' the Note," which marked the first new studio album from the band in nine years.
Despite sporadic recorded output in recent years, the band has been a fixture on the summer amphitheater circuit, and continues to be a massive draw in New York City during its annual March residency at the Beacon Theatre. This year's edition was a 14-night stand that saw the group perform for more than 40,000 fans, according to the band's publicist.
