Korn hits the silver screen to hype DVD
A new concert DVD from rock moguls Korn is due in stores next month, and the group plans to usher in the flick with a release-eve showing in movie cinemas throughout the US.
Dubbed "Korn: Live on the Other Side," the film--which captures the group's Nov. 25, 2005 performance at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom--will hit screens June 19 at about 100 cinemas in approximately 70 markets nationwide, according to a press release.
Event organizer Big Screen Concerts, a division of National CineMedia, is currently selling tickets to the movie-theater showings via its website.
The movie-theater event is an extension of a precedent-setting deal that Korn struck earlier this year with Virgin Records parent EMI Music and concert promoter Live Nation, through which the three parties are partners in all of the band's revenue-generating endeavors. National CineMedia announced earlier this month that it had inked with Live Nation an agreement through which Live Nation will supply the company with concert content.
The day after "Korn: Live on the Other Side" premieres in theaters, the flick will turn up at stores in DVD form. In addition to a live performance, the disc--which was produced in Hi-Definition video and 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound--will include a 37-minute documentary, behind-the-scenes footage, never-before-seen interviews with the band members, music videos and more, according to the band's website.
A complete track list for the DVD is included below.
Korn is gearing up for this summer's Family Values Tour , a multi-act outing that the group founded back in 1998. This year's outing, which kicks off in late July, marks the tour's revival after lying dormant since 2001.
Last December, Korn issued its latest studio album, "See You on the Other Side." The platinum-certified set, which is the group's first release under its agreement with EMI, features the hit singles "Twisted Transistor" and "Coming Undone."
