Smashing Pumpkins Announce First Batch Of U.S. Concert Dates
Smashing Pumpkins will begin a month-long tour of U.S. theaters on April 8 in support of the recently released album "MACHINA / the machines of God." The band is expected to follow that tour with a major arena tour, but details about those shows have yet to surface.
In most markets, tickets for the theater tour go on sale on Saturday (3/11).
In a surprise announcement today (3/10), promoters said that the Pumpkins would play a pair of Canadian club dates over the weekend. On Saturday, the band will appear at Le Spectrum in Montreal at 9 p.m., and on Sunday they are set to perform at The Guvernment in Toronto.
Prior to the release of "MACHINA," the Pumpkins toured extensively in Europe, then embarked on a promotional tour of U.S. record stores that featured autograph-signing sessions and, in a few markets, live performances.
''MACHINA'' will enter the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 3 next week, trailing Santana's "Supernatural" and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's new release, "BTNHResurrection."
