Rolling Stones unveil rescheduled European tour
The Rolling Stones have announced they will hit the road again in July after guitarist Keith Richards was given a clean bill of health following the head injury he suffered in April.
The band will tackle European dates that were postponed after the guitarist's injury, kicking off with a July 11 show in Milan, Italy. The rescheduled dates include 21 stadium shows in 11 countries, but previously scheduled concerts in Nuremberg and Leipzig, Germany, have been canceled, while 10 other dates on the original schedule remain postponed indefinitely.
The Stones' European tour was originally scheduled to open May 27 in Barcelona, Spain.
Richards apologized to fans for the postponements in a statement issued to the press. "Excuse me, I fell off of my perch! Sorry to disrupt everyone's plans but now--it's full steam ahead! Ouch!!"
Ticket holders were advised by the band's official website to hold on to their tickets and await further instructions regarding the remaining postponed dates.
Richards, 62, was injured during a vacation in New Zealand in late April when he either fell out of a palm tree attempting to obtain a coconut, or fell from a personal watercraft, according to various press reports. The guitarist suffered a mild concussion and later underwent surgery to relieve pressure inside his skull, a procedure the band's publicist termed a "complete success."
