Smash Mouth, Luscious Jackson Packaged For The Road
Smash Mouth , who scored big in 1999 with the ubiquitous, Grammy-nominated single "All Star," will hit the road in February with the all-female alt-rock trio Luscious Jackson for a month of dates at U.S. theaters. The tour, dubbed Yahoo! Out Loud, is the first of a planned series of college-oriented tour packages sponsored by the Web portal.
San Jose-based Smash Mouth, which takes its name from Mike Ditka's term ''smash mouth football,'' has been touring heavily since the band's triple-platinum sophomore album, ''Astro Lounge,'' hit stores last June. They opened for Lenny Kravitz and played many radio station festivals. In only a handful of the festivals did the band headline.
Luscious Jackson keyboardist Vivian Trimble, saying she had grown weary of the road, departed the band before it recorded the 1999 album ''Electric Honey.'' The band has played as a trio since Trimble left, though Deborah Harry and Emmylou Harris were among those enlisted to sing backup vocals on ''Honey.''
