Pete Yorn maps out acoustic tour

Singer/songwriter Pete Yorn will set out this summer on the first solo acoustic tour of his career in support of his upcoming new studio set.

The singer will hit 35 cities over a stretch of about 50 days, kicking off his tour of mostly clubs and small venues June 22 in Santa Barbara, CA.

Tickets for most of Yorn's summer shows are currently on sale, with the exception of a few dates mostly toward the end of his tour.

Yorn will use the forthcoming tour's acoustic setting to showcase songs from his third studio album, "Nightcrawler," which hits stores Aug. 15.

According to his record-company biography, Yorn started writing and singing his own songs after he sang The Replacements' "Talent Show" at a high school talent competition in 1990. He moved to Los Angeles after graduating from Syracuse, and spent four years playing the Los Angeles club circuit before landing a label deal.

Yorn's first major exposure came on the soundtrack to the 2000 Farrelly Brothers movie "Me, Myself and Irene," to which he contributed several songs. "Musicforthemorningafter," which eventually was certified gold for shipping more than 500,000 copies in the US, followed in March of 2001.
