Shawn Colvin tours ahead of new album
Shawn Colvin 's first new album in five years won't land in stores until September, but fans won't have to wait that long to catch her in action.
Colvin has lined up a summer run that kicks off in the Northeast later this month, dates for which so far stretch into mid-August. The itinerary primarily features a mix of headlining stops and festival appearances, and also includes one-off dates with Marc Cohn , Bruce Cockburn , Rodney Crowell and Lyle Lovett , as well as two shows with Dar Williams. Details are included below.
The tour comes in advance of the planned Sept. 12 release of "These 4 Walls," Colvin's follow-up to 2001's "Whole New You," and her first for Nonesuch Records. She recorded the new set in Texas and New York with producer John Leventhal.
Though she had originally hoped to deliver the set this spring, Colvin ultimately decided it would be more prudent to push it back, according to a message she posted at her website earlier this year.
"Although we are very nearly finished it looks as though the wisest course of action is to release it in September," she wrote. "This will allow for proper set-up time to ensure the best possible chances for its success. "
She went on to say that she plans to continue touring into the fall, and will be "covering a good deal" of the US, as well as the UK.
Colvin has earned three Grammy over the course of her career, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for her 1995 hit "Sunny Came Home."
