Loretta Lynn breaks shoulder, cancels shows

A serious injury to her shoulder has caused country music legend Loretta Lynn to cancel nine upcoming tour dates and postpone touring until August, at the earliest.

The 71-year-old singer suffered a broken shoulder when she accidentally fell at her home in Hurricane Mills, TN. Lynn was expected to undergo shoulder joint replacement surgery at a Nashville hospital Thursday (6/8), her spokesman, William Smithson, said in a press release.

The canceled dates include her Friday (6/9) show in Rochester Hills, MI, and the remainder of her scheduled itinerary during June and July. No word has been announced on whether the affected dates will be rescheduled or when.

In February last year, Lynn was forced to cancel a pair of shows in Oklahoma and Texas because of pain from a back injury.

Lynn, a three-time Grammy winner, is best known for her autobiographical hit "Coal Miner's Daughter" and songs like "Rated X," "The Pill" and "Don't Come Home A' Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind)."
