The end is near for Sleater-Kinney
Fans of Portland, OR-based rock trio Sleater-Kinney will have only a few more chances to see the band before the group goes on "indefinite hiatus."
"The upcoming shows will be our last," the band said in a statement posted on its official website. "As of now, there are no plans for future tours or recordings."
The critically lauded, all-female group has only five concert dates on its summer itinerary, opening July 29 at Louisville, KY's Forecastle Festival. The band's final scheduled performance is set for Aug. 4 at Lollapalooza in Chicago.
"We feel lucky to have had the support of many wonderful people over the years," the band's statement continued. "We want to thank everyone who has worked with us, written kind words about us, performed with us, and inspired us. But mostly we want to extend our gratitude to our amazing fans. You have been a part of our story from the beginning. We could not have made our music without your enthusiasm, passion, and loyalty. It is you who have made the entire journey worthwhile."
The statement didn't address the reason for the split.
"The Woods," the seventh and apparently final album of the punk-infused group's 11-year run, hit stores last year.
