Axl Rose busted in Sweden

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose was arrested Tuesday (6/27) in Stockholm, Sweden, for allegedly scuffling with a security guard and busting up a hotel lobby, according to published reports.

Rose, who performed a concert in Stockholm Monday night, was reportedly accused of biting a security guard on the leg at the Bens Hotel--where GN'R were staying--after the guard tried to break up an argument between Rose and an unidentified woman in the hotel lobby, and of causing minor damage to the hotel.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reportedly quoted arresting officer Frank Nylen as saying that Rose needed to be "handcuffed and restrained." Witnesses reportedly told the newspaper that Rose also broke a mirror in the hotel's reception area during the incident.

Police reportedly kept Rose in custody for much of the day, claiming that he was "deemed too intoxicated to be questioned right away," police spokesperson Tawe Hagg told the Associated Press. The rocker was eventually released after he pleaded guilty to charges of violent conduct and criminal damage, both misdemeanors, and agreed to pay a fine of 40,000 crowns ($5,460), as well as 10,000 crowns in compensation to the guard, according to Reuters.

Rose, who had a well-known reputation for volatile behavior back in Guns N' Roses' late-'80s/early '90s heyday, had remained out of the spotlight for much of the past decade, but resurfaced in earnest earlier this year, popping up at a number of high-profile events and, most recently, performing a number of Guns N' Roses concerts, including a handful of New York City shows last month.

On May 18, while in New York, Rose reportedly got into an altercation with clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger during a birthday party for actress Rosario Dawson.

Rose has claimed that Guns N' Roses--of which he is the only remaining original member--will at long last release its long-delayed album "Chinese Democracy" this year. The disc has been a work-in-progress for about 10 years.
