Briefly: KISS, Nelly Furtado, Underoath, BET Awards
KISS principals Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley reportedly were on hand in Myrtle Beach, SC, for the Tuesday (6/27) grand opening of the first KISS Coffeehouse.
The Myrtle Beach Sun News reported that the rockers turned up at the event--sans makeup--to find hundreds of fans waiting for a glimpse of them.
KISS Coffeehouse was the brainchild of longtime KISS fan Brian Galvin, who hopes to open additional locations if the first proves a hit.
"With smoking KISS boots over 20 feet tall at the storefront and some awesome KISS memorabilia on display, loyal KISS fans will not be disappointed," promises the KISS Coffeehouse website.
Nelly Furtado 's "Loose" debuts atop the new Billboard 200 album chart, with about 219,000 copies of the album sold during its first week in stores.
Christian-rockers Underoath debut at No. 2 on the chart, logging sales of about 98,000 copies, Billboard reports, while the Dixie Chicks' "Taking the Long Way" slips one notch to No. 3.
British alt-rockers Keane enter the chart at No. 4, while Busta Rhymes' "The Big Bang" tumbles from No. 1 last week to No. 5.
Mary J. Blige , Chris Brown , Jamie Foxx and Kanye West each were honored with two awards at Tuesday night's (6/27) 2006 BET Awards in Los Angeles.
Blige won for Best Female R&B Artist, while Brown took the Best New Artist and Viewers' Choice awards.
West and Foxx shared the Best Duet/Collaboration award for their hit "Gold Digger," which also shared the Video of the Year award with Blige's "Be Without You."
