Illness knocks McPhee out of 'Idol' tour launch

"American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee is sitting out the initial dates on the television show's spin-off tour, which launched last night (7/5) in New Hampshire.
Citing "severe bronchitis and laryngitis," organizers for the "American Idols Live " tour announced shortly before the first of two back-to-back shows at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH, that McPhee would not appear.
"I am disappointed and I am sorry to disappoint my fans who will be attending the start of the American Idols Live tour," McPhee said in a statement. "I need to follow my doctor's orders to recuperate and reunite with the rest of the Idols."
It was not clear at press time when McPhee would rejoin the tour.
As previously reported, the "American Idols Live" tour features the show's latest winner, Taylor Hicks , as well as finalists McPhee, Paris Bennett, Bucky Covington, Chris Daughtry, Mandisa, Kellie Pickler, Lisa Tucker, Elliot Yamin and Ace Young.
The tour continues tonight (7/6) in New Hampshire, then moves to Worcester, MA, for shows on Friday (7/7) and Saturday (7/8). The full itinerary is shown below.
