Briefly: Avril Lavigne, Deryck Whibley, Kellie Pickler, Korn
Pop singer Avril Lavigne and fellow Canuck musician Deryck Whibley, who fronts pop-punk band Sum 41 , reportedly married Saturday (7/15) at a private ceremony in Montecito, CA.
According to a story posted on People magazine's website, Lavigne, 21, and Whibley, 26, have been together for two years. The outdoor ceremony was described as a largely traditional affair.
Kellie Pickler is the latest finalist from this season's edition of the Fox-TV talent show "American Idol" to sign a major-label recording deal.
Pickler has inked with 19 Recordings/BNA Records--part of the Sony/BMG group--and her debut album is due in stores Nov. 14, according to a press release.
"I've always dreamed of getting a record deal so now my dream has come true," Pickler said in a statement. "I'm really excited about making my first album and giving something back to the fans who supported me on 'American Idol.'"
The 20-year-old singer plans to record the album between stops on this year's American Idols Live tour, and the label hopes to ship her first single to country radio in September.
Korn is scheduled to make its first televised acoustic performance Tuesday (7/18) on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
The group--which launches the latest edition of its Family Values Tour later this month--plans to play "Twisted Transistor" and "Coming Undone" on the broadcast.
