Hawthorne Heights, Relient K top Nintendo Fusion Tour

Emo-rockers Hawthorne Heights will headline the lineup of the upcoming Nintendo Fusion Tour , a 40-city outing set to hit around 40 cities between Sept. 27 and Nov. 11.

Other announced acts include Relient K , Emery , Plain White T's and The Sleeping.

Specific routing and ticket information is expected soon for the tour, which Nintendo will use to showcase its video game technology, including its upcoming next-generation game console, Wii.

"Video games are as important to the pop culture landscape as music," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, in a press release. "The Nintendo Fusion Tour has become a launching pad for the best in entertainment, from the hottest new bands to the best upcoming Nintendo products."

Dayton, OH-based Hawthorne Heights released their second album, "If Only You Were Lonely," in February. The band's debut album, "The Silence in Black and White," shipped platinum in 2004, and the current release has achieved gold certification.

"Nintendo always picks great rock bands, and we are happy to follow in that tradition this year," said singer JT Woodruff. "But mainly, I am an old-school video game nerd. I still have my NES with over 500 games."

Indie-rockers Relient K are currently putting the finishing touches on their fifth, still untitled, studio album. Due later in the year, the album will follow 2004's "MMHMM."

Seattle-based Emery released its second album, "The Question," last year. The alternative Christian act debuted with 2004's "The Weak's End."
