Chicago forges on sans Huey later this summer

After finishing up its current road trip with Huey Lewis & The News, veteran light-rockers Chicago will mount a new round of headlining dates that stretch into the fall.

The trek with Lewis and company closes July 29, and Chicago will waste no time going it alone, with a July 30 headlining show set in Connecticut. Stops are planned in a total of 20 cities by mid-October, including a mid-August, four-night stand in Atlantic City. The itinerary is shown below.

In March, Chicago issued the appropriately titled "XXX," so named because it is the group's 30th album. Jay DeMarcus, a member of country trio Rascal Flatts, produced the set, which is the band's first new collection in a decade.

"XXX" features the cut "Feel," a live, video version of which is streaming at Chicago's website. Meanwhile, streaming audio samples of each track from "XXX" are posted at Rhino Records' website.

Formed in its namesake city in 1967, Chicago has racked up five No. 1 albums, 21 top 10 singles and worldwide sales of over 120 million units, according to Rhino. The group, whose lineup has fluctuated over the years, currently features founding members Robert Lamm (keyboards, vocals), Walter Parazaider (sax, woodwinds), Lee Loughnane (trumpet), and James Pankow (trombone), as well as Bill Champlin (keyboards, vocals), Jason Scheff (bass, vocals), Keith Howland (guitar) and Tris Imboden (drums).

Huey Lewis & The News delivered their most recent studio album, "Plan B," in 2001. The set marked the group's first collection of new material since 1991's "Hard at Play."
