Briefly: Daniel Powter, Tom Petty, 'NOW 22,' Thom Yorke, Ben Kweller
Daniel Powter 's hit single "Bad Day" has logged nearly 1.7 million digital downloads, making it the top-selling digital song of all time, according to Warner Bros. Records.
The song was used extensively throughout the fifth season of the Fox-TV talent competition "American Idol."
Tom Petty 's entire forthcoming album, "Highway Companion," is currently streaming at Rhapsody.
The veteran rocker will perform his new single, "Saving Grace," on Thursday night's (7/20) episode of NBC-TV's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
The album is due in stores next Tuesday (7/25).
The 22nd edition of the hits compilation "Now That's What I Call Music!" tops the new Billboard 200 album chart, with nearly 400,000 copies sold during its first week in stores.
Coming in at a distant No. 2 was Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke 's debut solo album, "The Eraser," which sold 90,000 copies, Billboard reports.
Pimp C 's "Pimpalation" grabs the No. 3 slot during its first week out, while Nelly Furtado's "Loose" slips from No. 2 to No. 4. Rounding out the Top 5 is Gnarls Barkley's "St. Elsewhere."
A Sept. 19 release date has been set for Ben Kweller 's third solo album. Gil Norton (Pixies) produced the set, which follows 2004's "On My Way."
