Emmylou Harris maps out fall tour plans

Country/bluegrass icon Emmylou Harris , who spent a good portion of her spring touring with Mark Knopfler to support the pair's recent duet album, has lined up a 14-city outing this fall.

The dates spread across September and October, with Harris kicking off her itinerary Sept. 21 in East Lansing, MI. Singer/songwriters Mary Ann Kennedy and Pam Rose will handle support duties for most of the tour, with Harris being joined by bluegrass musician John Starling on select dates.

Harris will also tackle an Oct. 8 slot at San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, a three-day folk and bluegrass event in that city's Golden Gate Park featuring a bill that also includes Elvis Costello and Bill Bragg, among others.

Harris and former Dire Straits frontman Knopfler released "All the Roadrunning" together this April. The pair spent seven years working on recording bits and pieces one at a time, according to a press release.

"We put it together by stealing a few precious hours of studio time here and there," Knopfler said in the release.

"Making this album was a pure joy," added Harris. "Being surrounded by extraordinary musicians and guided by one of the great artists of our time. Truly it is a gift for which I will always be grateful."
