Strong Sales Continue For Sisqo's "Unleash The Dragon"
Contemporary soul singer Sisqo has the No. 5 album in the Billboard 200 chart this week, with the double-platinum album "Unleash the Dragon" (Def Soul) selling almost 158,000 copies, according to his label.
The album, which peaked at number two last week and has been on the charts 17 weeks, has also been on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop album chart since its debut in December 1999. The Def Soul imprint is owned by Universal Music, and Sisqo's album was Universal's top seller for the week.
A remixed version of Sisqo's single "Thong Song" will be the lead single on the upcoming soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy movie "Nutty Professor II," according to a Def Soul representative. The soundtrack will be released on July 11.
Sisqo's only upcoming promotional appearance is on "Saturday Night Live" on April 15. He plans to tour this summer, but dates and cities are still being planned, according to his label.
A member of the hit vocal group Dru Hill , Sisqo said that he and other group members Jazz, Nokio and Woody--who founded the group together in Baltimore in 1995--plan to release their own solo albums, then issue a new Dru Hill album in 2001. Def Soul confirmed that that was still the plan, although the other members have not released albums yet.
