Joan Jett & The Blackhearts follow 'Sinner' down concert road
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will launch a fall tour behind "Sinner," Jett's first full-length album of new material in more than 10 years.
The band, which recently finished a string of headlining appearances on this summer's Van's Warped Tour, will kick off its fall outing Oct. 12 in Philadelphia. Before the start of the fall trek, however, the group will make several appearances at summer fairs and music festivals, starting with the Aug. 20 Iowa Fair in Des Moines, IA.
Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme's side project, Eagles of Death Metal (whose sophomore effort, "Death by Sexy," hit stores in April) will support Jett and her bandmates on the outing, with additional support due in selected venues from Throw Rag, Riverboat Gamblers and Valient Thorr.
"Sinner" is Jett's first studio release since 1994's "Pure and Simple," itself a comeback effort following years of inactivity after Jett's initial salad days of MTV popularity in the early 1980's.
The disc was released in June on the Blackheart label, founded by Jett and Kenny Laguna (who produced "Sinner") in 1981, after Jett had been rejected by 23 other labels, according to a press release.
Blackheart will celebrate its 25th anniversary by re-releasing the label's entire back catalog, including Jett's 1981 breakthrough, "Bad Reputation."
