Jet boards for North American trek
Australian rockers Jet are set to embark on a 10-city North American tour that paves the way for the Oct. 3 release of their sophomore album, "Shine On."
The group's outing kicks off Sept. 20 in Austin, TX, and will travel the US and Canada for nearly three weeks.
Dave Sardy, who produced Jet's platinum-certified 2003 debut, "Get Born," was again behind the knobs on "Shine On." The band worked on the album over much of 2005 and into 2006 during writing sessions in Barbados, Australia, and Massachusetts. They wrapped up work this spring at Sardy's Hillside Manor Studios in Los Angeles.
The new album's first single, "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is," is already garnering heavy radio airplay.
Jet reemerged on stage last week with a pair of shows in their home country--their first there in almost two years. Next week, the group will play Britain's Carling and Leeds festivals.
Additional North American and international tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks, according to a press release.
Jet's clip for the hit "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" won the 2004 MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video.
