Ben Folds readies rarities collection, fall tour

Fans of Ben Folds have at least two things to look forward to this fall: a new album featuring rare cuts from throughout the singer/songwriter's career, and a round of fall concerts.

Currently in the midst of an Australian tour, Folds will next surface in the US for an Oct. 29 performance at Las Vegas' Vegoose festival, and will then set out on a headlining run that currently launches Nov. 1 in Houston. Nine headlining dates were confirmed at press time, and more shows will be added, according to Folds' website.

On Oct. 24, Folds offers up "supersunnyspeedgraphic, the lp," a comprehensive collection of original songs culled from his rare EPs, b-sides, covers and film soundtrack appearances. Folds, along with bassist Jared Reynolds and drummer Lindsay Jamieson, remastered the set and tweaked some of the tracks at Folds' own studio in Nashville, TN, according to a press release. The album's complete tracklisting is posted at Folds' website.

"Supersunnyspeedgraphic" follows Folds' April 2005 disc, "Songs for Silverman," his first full-length studio set since 2001's "Rockin' the Suburbs." Folds' 2005 output also included "iTunes Originals - Ben Folds," a collection of new songs and an in-depth interview with the singer/pianist that is available exclusively via Apple's iTunes Music Store; and "Ben Folds and WASO Live in Perth," a concert DVD that captures Folds' March 2005 performance with the Western Australia Symphony Orchestra.
