Ziggy Marley spreads his 'Religion' this fall

August 31, 2006 04:14 PM
Ziggy Marley , eldest son of late reggae legend Bob Marley, sets out this fall on a headlining tour behind his sophomore solo effort, "Love is My Religion."

Marley has mapped out an ambitious itinerary that gets underway on the West Coast in mid-October and touches down in more than three-dozen cities throughout the US by the time it wraps up in early December. Tickets for most shows will hit the box office in early September. Details are included below.

"Bringing music directly to the fans has always been an exciting experience for me, and I'm looking forward to sharing my new music in a live setting," said Ziggy. "I am very proud of 'Love is My Religion' and believe the whole album offers a message that people need to hear."

Released July 2, "Love is My Religion" is available exclusively via Target retail stores in the US, as well as via Apple's iTunes Music Store. The disc includes electric and acoustic versions of the album's title track, both of which are streaming at Marley's MySpace website.

Marley wrote all 12 cuts on the set, played most of the instruments and produced or co-produced all of the songs, according to a press release.

"Love is My Religion" follows Marley's 2003 solo debut, "Dragonfly." The reggae artist is also known for his body of work with the Melody Makers, a group that also features Marley siblings Stephen, Sharon and Cedella. Ziggy Marley has been singing, writing and producing with that unit since the age of 10.
