The Artist Announces Pay-Per-View New Year's Eve Show

The Artist will perform his song "1999" for the last time during a New Year's Eve pay-per-view concert at his Paisley Park studio in Minneapolis, according to his publicist. The concert will also feature appearances by Lenny Kravitz , George Clinton , Larry Graham , Morris Day and The Time and others.

The show will be broadcast on the iN DEMAND pay-per-view network, and carries a $19.99 pricetag.

The Artist released ''1999'' in 1982, when he still went by the moniker Prince. The song first appeared on the ''1999'' double-album, then was re-released on the 1993 ''Hits 1'' package. Early this year on his own NPG label, he released seven new versions of the track, including remixes, on an EP titled ''1999-The New Master.''

None of the new versions charted, but the original version of ''1999,'' released on Warner Bros. Records, briefly entered the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart last January.

Earlier this month, the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York played host to two concerts dubbed ''Party at the End of Time,'' in which The Roots, Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reed, and various singers performed the ''1999'' album in its entirety.
