Wolfmother stakes out more tour dates
Australian rockers Wolfmother , who are currently polishing off a late-summer/early fall tour of North America, will return to the continent in November to play another round of dates.
The power trio, which continues to back its self-titled debut album, is scheduled to open the just-announced, three-week run Nov. 21 in Philadelphia. The itinerary is shown below.
Released in the states in May, "Wolfmother" was produced by D. Sardy (Oasis, Dandy Warhols), and is certified double-platinum (210,000 units sold) in the group's native country, where it hit stores last fall. The disc was voted "Album of the Year" by Australia's alternative radio network, Triple J. According to Interscope Records, "Wolfmother" has sold more than 800,000 copies worldwide to date.
The band is continuing to make waves in the US with its new single, "Joker & the Thief," which can be heard in trailers for the forthcoming movie "Jackass Number 2." "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville and his crew are featured in the song's music video.
Wolfmother--Andrew Stockdale (guitar/vocals), Chris Ross (bass/keyboards) and Myles Heskett (drums)--came together in 2000 and spent several years together "jamming in anonymity," according to their online bio, before playing their first shows before an audience in 2004. The group issued a self-titled EP that same year, and followed it up with this year's US-only EP "Dimensions."
