James Taylor plots more 'one man band' dates

After spending the summer touring in front of a full band, singer/songwriter James Taylor will head out in October for another round of "One Man Band" solo dates.

Taylor will tackle 10 shows in six cities, beginning with an Oct. 7 appearance in Northampton, MA. He'll perform on guitar with only one backing musician, keyboardist Larry Goldings.

Tickets for all of Taylor's October performances are currently on sale; more details on tickets and venues are available on the artist's website.

The tour reprises Taylor's spring trek with Goldings, which ran from March through May. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer switched gears abruptly in August, bringing out an eight-piece band for a full-fledged summer tour.

Taylor's most recent album of all-new material is 2002's "October Road." A holiday set titled "James Taylor: A Christmas Album"--sold exclusively at Hallmark retail outlets--followed last year.

Billboard reported in February that Taylor has begun work on a new studio album, but no release date has been scheduled.

Taylor is among the many big-name artists who duet with Tony Bennett on "Tony Bennett: Duets/An American Classic," an upcoming album celebrating the legendary crooner's 80th birthday. The set is due in stores Sept. 26.
