30 Seconds to Mars goes green on MTV2 tour
Alt-rockers 30 Seconds to Mars , recent winners of the MTV2 Award at this year's MTV VMAs, will head up this fall's MTV2 $2 Bill tour, an outing that will travel the country using bio-diesel fuel.
The 30-city run, which kicks off Oct. 17 and runs until Nov. 25, will feature feature Head Automatica and Cobra Starship in the opening slots, and will also feature rotating support from Pink Spiders, Rock Kills Kid, The Receiving End of Sirens, Envy on the Coast, and Men, Women and Children on select dates.
Regularly priced tickets for the tour hit the box office Sept. 23, but a limited number of seats will be available at $2 apiece via a Ticketmaster.com pre-sale that launches Sept. 16, according to organizers. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.) More information is available at the tour's official website.
The touring vehicles used to transport the production from city to city will run on bio-diesel fuel, according to a press release.
"With a powerful line up of phenomenally talented opening bands and having an environmentally acceptable 'green' tour, we are looking forward to yet another chance for us to share something unique with our family of fans that have supported us so passionately and also invite and introduce many others to the world of 30 Seconds to Mars," frontman Jared Leto said in a statement. "Taking this approach gives us the opportunity to set an example and share with others the possibilities of real alternatives for a safer, cleaner world."
30 Seconds to Mars continues to support its gold-certified, 2005 release, "A Beautiful Lie." The disc features the hit single "The Kill," which earned the group its aforementioned MTV2 Award.
Before tackling the MTV2 tour, 30 Seconds to Mars will appear at the Sept. 23 KROQ Inland Invasion 2006 festival in Devore, CA, and will also play a handful of early October Canadian shows, as well as the Oct. 15 Bamboozle West festival in Pomona, CA. Details are included below.
