Alejandro Escovedo breaks out more 'Mirror' dates
Singer/songwriter Alejandro Escovedo , who has spent the last several months touring aggressively behind his latest album, "The Boxing Mirror," has set up another run of late-year dates to back the disc.
The Texas native, who returned to steady roadwork this year after successfully battling hepatitis C, will kick off his latest stretch Friday (9/22) in Nashville during the Americana Music Association's fifth annual awards presentation.
The following day, Escovedo will fill a slot at the River Roots music festival in Davenport, IA, before moving on to his next club show, a Sept. 28 appearance in Santa Monica, CA.
"The Boxing Mirror," produced by John Cale (The Velvet Underground), marks Escovedo's first new studio album since 2000's "Man Under the Influence." The set, which hit stores in May, includes 11 Escovedo originals.
The album tackles some difficult subjects, including Escovedo's liver disease and the recent death of his father.
Escovedo collapsed onstage in April 2002, and was later diagnosed with hepatitis C. After years of treatment, he is now healthy.
