Switchfoot readies album, plots fall tour

Switchfoot , whose most recent album hit stores last fall, is set to deliver a follow-up before year's end, and will preview some of the new material during a pre-release club and theater tour that launches next month.
The group's roadwork is scheduled to begin Oct. 17 in Bakersfield, CA, and stops are planned in about 30 cities by the time things wrap up Nov. 22 in Las Vegas. The itinerary is included below.
Fans who attend the upcoming shows can expect to hear some of the songs that will appear on Switchfoot's forthcoming album, "Oh! Gravity," which is due to hit the street Dec. 26, according to band's website. The first single, titled "Dirty Second Hands," will be available via iTunes beginning Sept. 26.
The group is revealing the new album's cover art incrementally via its official website. A new version of the site itself, meanwhile--as well as a revamped MySpace page--will go live Oct. 16.
"Oh! Gravity" follows Switchfoot's gold-certified "Nothing is Sound," which surfaced in September of last year.
