John Legend 'Once Again' ready to tour

Grammy-winning singer/pianist John Legend returns this fall with a new album titled "Once Again," and backs the set up with a run on the club and theater circuit.

Legend's roadwork begins Oct. 26 in Washington, DC, and stops are planned in about two-dozen cities by early December. Details are shown below.

Two days before he hits the road, Legend offers up "Once Again," which follows his 2004 debut, "Get Lifted." Kanye West, who produced "Get Lifted," had a hand in the new disc, as did a number of other artists.

"I worked with a great list of producers and co-writers, including Kanye West, Will.I.Am, Raphael Saadiq, Craig Street, Sa-Ra, Eric Hudson, Devo Springsteen, Dave Tozer and Avenue," Legend wrote in a recent journal entry posted at his website. "I also had a special guest appearance from Mary J. Blige.

"I'm really proud of what we did. This album shows how I've grown and developed since 'Get Lifted.' You'll hear a range of influences from soul to hip-hop to classic pop to alternative."

Paving the way for "Once Again" is the album's lead-off single, "Save Room," the idea for which was hatched by Black Eyed Peas member Will.I.Am. The cut is inspired by an old AM radio single, "Stormy," by the Classics IV, a '60s-era Top 40 band best known for the song "Spooky."

"Will brought the sample," Legend said in a press release. "I didn't even know the original. I just knew it was a nice organ sound and wanted to write to it. I just started mumbling along to it, finding my place in the melody and it worked for me."

"Save Room" is streaming at Legend's MySpace page, and the song's music video is streaming at his official website.

Earlier this year, Legend picked up three Grammy awards: Best R&B Album ("Get Lifted"), Best R&B Male Vocal Performance ("Ordinary People") and Best New Artist.
