Last month, Montgomery Gentry [ tickets ] wrapped up a summer roadtrip whose launch coincided with the mid-July radio release of the "Some People Change" title track. The cut is streaming at the pair's MySpace page.
Also last month, Montgomery Gentry picked up a nomination for an American Music Award in the Country/Favorite Band Duo or Group category. The winner will be named during the Nov. 21 AMA ceremony in Los Angeles, which is scheduled to air live on ABC.
Montgomery Gentry is also in contention for Vocal Duo of the Year at next month's CMA Awards, which takes place Nov. 6 in Nashville, and is also set for a live broadcast on ABC.
In August, Gentry appeared in federal court in Duluth, MN, in connection with the 2004 killing of a tame black bear that authorities allege he bought, shot in an enclosed pen with a bow and arrow, and then tagged as if it had been killed in the wild, according to Minnesota newspaper The Pioneer Press. The death was allegedly captured on a videotape that was later edited so that Gentry appeared to kill the bear--whose name was Cubby and who had been raised in captivity--in a "'fair-chase' hunting situation," the paper reported.
Gentry and Lee Marvin Greenly--owner of the wildlife refuge where the alleged killing took place--then reportedly shipped the bear's hide to a Kentucky taxidermist, according to an indictment against the two men. They face a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison and a $20,000 fine if convicted, the paper reported.
