Aerosmith and Motley Crue extend tour plans
UPDATED: Aerosmith and Motley Crue 's in-progress Route of All Evil Tour, which originally was scheduled to wrap up next month, will continue rolling into December.
Following a post-Thanksgiving break, the two veteran rock acts will return to the stage Dec. 5 in Montreal, and are scheduled to play five North American shows that month. Additionally, Aerosmith has booked three US headlining dates of its own, which will feature up-and-coming rockers Hinder in the opening slot. Details are included below.
Word of the new shows comes just as Aerosmith's latest hits compilation, "Devil's Got a New Disguise: The Very Best of Aerosmith," lands in stores. The disc houses 16 previously released cuts, as well as two new songs: "Devil's Got a New Disguise" and "Sedona Sunrise." A complete tracklisting for the set, as well as a streaming version of the song "Devil's Got a New Disguise," are available at the band's official fan-club website.
Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton remains sidelined as he undergoes treatment for throat cancer. David Hull, a longtime friend of the band who played in Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry's The Joe Perry Project, is filling in.
Motley Crue reunited in early 2005 to mount what turned out to be one of the most successful arena tours of the year. The run supported "Red, White & Crue," a best-of set that also featured several new cuts.
In addition to bashing skins for the Crue, drummer Tommy Lee is also staying busy with a new side project dubbed Rockstar Supernova. The group, which also features former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, recently selected Lukas Rossi as its lead singer; Rossi beat out the competition in the second season of CBS-TV's "Rock Star" talent competition. Rockstar Supernova's debut album is due in stores Nov. 21, and the band plans to launch a world tour at the end of the year.
