Brazilian Girls drop 'Bomb,' unload new fall shows
Downtempo electronica foursome Brazilian Girls will tackle a brief run of shows in November leading up to a New Year's Eve appearance in their hometown of New York.
The band--only one of them a girl and none of them Brazilian--is backing its recently released sophomore set, "Talk to La Bomb," which hit stores Sept. 12.
The Girls will tackle a slot at the Oct. 28 Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans before kicking off the headlining portion of its tour, which launches Halloween night in Los Angeles.
The brief tour will concentrate on each extreme of the continent, with an early West Coast leg quickly tipping eastward toward the outing's New Year's Eve conclusion.
The band is partnering with VH1 for a drawing to give away tickets to the group's New Year's Eve show in New York, along with airline tickets, hotel accommodations and $500 cash. Full details on the giveaway are available through the band's website.
"Talk to La Bomb," which features production help from former Cars lead singer Ric Ocasek, follows up on Brazilian Girls' self-titled 2005 debut. A song from the new disc, "Jique," is currently streaming on the group's website.
The four members of Brazilian Girls met in 2003 while jamming together at a New York dance club, according to a press release. The newly formed group (singer Sabina Sciubba, keyboardist Didi Gutman, bassist Jesse Murphy, and drummer Aaron Johnston) began playing together on a weekly basis, producing the tracks that would eventually form their debut album.
