More shows ahead for Jewel
Jewel , who last month unveiled a handful of November tour dates, has added more shows to an itinerary that now stretches into December as she continues to support this year's "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland."
New to the schedule are about a half dozen shows that fill in some late-November blanks, and a Dec. 2 stop in Atlantic City. Details are included below.
Released in May, "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" is Jewel's first new set since 2003's "0304." Produced Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls). the new album features the cuts "Again and Again" and "Only One Too."
"I think [the] 'Goodbye Alice in Wonderland' [title-track] is the most personal [song] I've written--and 'Long Slow Slide'" Jewel said in a recent blog entry posted at her MySpace page. "They both really tackle the thoughts and feelings of the last few years."
"Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" debuted at No. 8 on The Billboard 200 album chart after selling about 82,000 copies during its first week of release, but sales subsequently stalled; to date, the disc has reportedly moved about 250,000 copies. Its predecessor, which debuted at No. 2, has racked up sales of about 900,000 copies.
Jewel's 1995 debut, "Pieces of You," remains her most commercially successful release. The disc--which spawned the Top 10 hits "You Were Meant for Me," "Who Will Save Your Soul" and "Foolish Games"--is multi-platinum certified for US shipment of 12 million copies, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
Streaming samples of all of the tracks on "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" are posted at Jewel's official website.
