John Mayer maps winter 'Continuum' tour

Grammy-winning singer/songwriter John Mayer will launch a major headlining run early next year as he backs his critically acclaimed album "Continuum."

The roadtrip is scheduled to kick off Jan. 25 in Jacksonville, FL, and about two-dozen dates are stacked up through the end of February, including a Feb. 28 finale at New York City's Madison Square Garden. Tickets for most shows go on sale to the general public next month; on-sale dates are noted in the itinerary below.

Meanwhile, members of Mayer's official fanclub, Local 83, will get an early shot at tickets via online pre-sales. More information is available at the Local 83 website.

"Continuum," Mayer's third studio full-length, surfaced last month. The set, which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart, features the single "Waiting on the World to Change," one of three new cuts streaming at Mayer's MySpace page.

Last November, Mayer offered up the live set "Try!" The disc captures a September 2005 performance in Chicago featuring Mayer, bassist Pino Palladino (The Who, Jeff Beck) and drummer Steve Jordan (Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones), collectively billed as The John Mayer Trio. Fans who caught the group in concert might recognize the "Continuum" tracks "Gravity" and "Vultures."
