Damien Rice returns to the US with '9'
Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice will return to North America this fall for a short theater tour supporting his latest album, "9," due in stores Nov. 14.
The singer, whose previous album, 2003's "O," has sold more than two million copies worldwide, according to his publicist, will be backed by the same band that appears on all of his studio efforts to date: Lisa Hannigan (vocals), Vyvienne Long (cello), Tom Osander (drums) and Shane Fitzsimons (bass).
Rice will kick off his brief outing with a sold-out Nov. 13 appearance in Los Angeles, following up with another sold-out show, Nov. 16 in New York. After taking a few weeks off, the trek will resume Dec. 6 in Oakland, CA.
Tickets for most of the December shows are currently on sale, and presale tickets for Rice's Dec. 20 show in Minneapolis can be obtained through the performer's website.
The singer will perform a live set for XM Radio before the start of the tour. The four-song program is scheduled to air Nov. 8 over the satellite radio network.
