Trumpeter Chris Botti heralds in more shows
Contemporary-jazz trumpeter Chris Botti is living life on the road, touring non-stop in the US and abroad with current dates through next October.
Since September, Botti has played in the US, Canada, Singapore, the Philippines and China, and just finished a four-day stint in Japan. With barely enough time to recover from the jet lag, he'll do a few US shows starting Nov. 8 in New York City, head to Thailand for a few dates in December and close out the year with a two-week run at The Blue Note in his home city of New York. A massive US tour follows.
The schedule for Botti's international dates can be found at his website. US dates are listed below.
Botti's latest album, "To Love Again," was released in October 2005. It is a collection of jazz standards featuring nine guest-star vocalists: Sting, Gladys Knight, Steven Tyler, Paula Cole, Michael Buble, Jill Scott, Paul Buchanan, Renee Olstead and Rosa Passos. The London Session Orchestra once again joins Botti on instrumental tracks, as it did on the trumpeter's 2004 release, "When I Fall in Love."
Before going solo, Botti was a key sideman for many artists in the studio and on the road. He's toured with Paul Simon and was a featured soloist on Sting's "Brand New Day" tour.
The musician's big break came when he was "discovered" by Oprah Winfrey, who presented him on her show in November 2004, according to a press release. Within a week, he had reportedly sold more than 50,000 albums and has not lost momentum since.
