Juke Kartel catches a ride on Supernova
Ever since Juke Kartel frontman Toby Rand was a finalist on the CBS reality-TV show "Rock Star: Supernova," his Australian rock band has been moving ahead full throttle.
The group, which has been recording its debut album in Los Angeles, will hit the road Nov. 18 for a headlining club tour that focuses on the US, and also includes a brief, two-date foray into Canada. That stretch of shows wraps up in mid-December, and will be followed by early 2007 roadwork supporting Rock Star Supernova during that group's treks through North America, Australia and New Zealand.
Juke Kartel's US dates are included below, while the international dates can be found at the band's MySpacepage.
In September, Canadian vocalist Lukas Rossi beat Rand in the reality-show competition, becoming the lead singer of Rock Star Supernova, which includes drummer Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), guitarist Gilby Clarke (ex-Guns N' Roses) and former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted (who has been sidelined by an arm and shoulder injury and temporarily replaced by Ex-Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt).
Before the "Rock Star" series came along to boost Rand's and Juke Kartel's careers, the rockers were just beginning to make serious waves in their hometown of Melbourne, according to a press release. They have supported Nickelback on the "All the Right Reasons Tour," played arena shows as part of "Taste of Chaos," and have made their way onto three Eastern Surf Film DVDs and Coke's Live 05 compilation CD.
Juke Kartel recently signed with a major management firm, which is currently negotiating with several record companies to ink the band's first label deal, according to a press release. The group's first single, "Throw it Away," is streaming at its MySpace page.
