G. Love & Special Sauce serve 'Lemonade'

G. Love & Special Sauce are taking the tasty sounds of their latest album, "Lemonade," on a November tour of the Eastern US beginning tonight (11/9) in Indianapolis, IN.

The outing wraps with a double shot Nov. 24-25 at the Electric Factory in G. Love's hometown of Philadelphia. Those shows will be filmed for a DVD.

Louisiana bayou-soul singer Marc Broussard will open, supporting his major label debut "Carencro."

G. Love recently finished the third leg of the "Glass of Lemonade" tour, which included treks through Australia and Japan.

Released in August, "Lemonade" is the band's second album for Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records. G. Love, a.k.a. Garret Dutton, said the kickback soul/blues/hip-hop sounds on the record were inspired by old-time porch lounging--the kind he used to do when he first set out for Philadelphia to make it in the music business.

The album features a variety of collaborations with G. Love's friends, including Ben Harper, Donovan Frankenreiter, Jasper, Dave Hidalgo of Los Lobos, Blackalicious, Tristan Prettyman, Broussard and Johnson.

"We just reached out to a lot of our friends who just happen to be incredible musicians, and everyone was pretty enthusiastic about coming into the studio with us," Dutton said in a press release.

With seven albums behind him, G. Love said he's in a comfortable place musically and in life.

"So when I set out to make this record, I wanted to take my sound, base it on the groove and really get into a deeper pocket," he said.

"Lemonade" is being lauded as G. Love's most stylistically cohesive and focused album yet. Five of the 14 tracks from the record, including the single "Hot Cookin'," are streaming at the band's MySpacepage.
