Elton John plots next slate of Vegas dates
Elton John has locked in dates for the next run of his Las Vegas production, "The Red Piano," which will be in residency through 2008 at Caesar's Palace's Collosseum.
The singer--currently getting ready for a number of shows in Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand--will return to his Las Vegas show Jan. 30. The upcoming installment will run for 12 nights through the middle of February.
John's full overseas itinerary is posted at his website.
"The Red Piano" was created by John with photographer David LaChapelle to spotlight the songs of John and his longtime writing partner Bernie Taupin. Last year, John signed an agreement that will keep the show running through 2008, according to Caesars.
Last week, John wasy awarded the "Legend of Live" award at the third annual Billboard Touring Awards in New York. The ceremonial award is given to "iconic acts who have never forgotten that the live concert experience is one of the most important things a performer can give fans," according to John's website.
"Here you get awards for doing what you love most, and for me, that's playing music," he said during his acceptance speech. "That's what I love to do most. And I'd really like to thank Billboard for this award. It means a helluva lot because, of all the things I do musically, playing live is definitely the most rewarding thing."
In September, John issued "The Captain and the Kid." Billed as a sequel to his acclaimed 1975 set, "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy," the new album features the lead-off single "The Bridge."
