Singer/songwriter Alejandro Escovedo [ tickets ], who has performed heavy roadwork for most of the year behind his most recent studio album, "The Boxing Mirror," has extended an itinerary that now takes him deep into next spring.

The Texas native, who returned to steady touring this year after successfully battling hepatitis C, next appears Friday (11/17) in San Antonio, the first of two shows in his home state during the month. He'll also tackle a Nov. 24 date in Austin, TX.

Following a busy December slate of shows, the singer's schedule eases up a bit, but still takes him into next March, with 14 dates so far spread across the first four months of 2007.

"The Boxing Mirror," produced by John Cale (The Velvet Underground), marks Escovedo's first new studio album since 2000's "Man Under the Influence." The set, which hit stores in May, includes 11 Escovedo originals.

The album tackles some difficult subjects, including Escovedo's liver disease and the recent death of his father.

Escovedo collapsed onstage in April 2002, and was later diagnosed with hepatitis C. After years of treatment, he is now healthy.
