Stevie Nicks brings music to wounded soldiers

Stevie Nicks is taking a break from the touring circuit at the moment, but she's keeping busy with her Soldier's Angel Foundation, which aims to lift the spirits of wounded US soldiers through music.

The singer was in Hollywood earlier this month for rock photographer Neal Preston's first-ever West Coast photo exhibit, after which proceeds totaling $25,000 were donated to the Soldier's Angel Foundation, organizers announced.

Others who reportedly came out to support the cause were Neil Diamond, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis and director Cameron Crowe.

The foundation, which Nicks started this year, provides iPods to service personnel who have been maimed or wounded in battle. The singer told NMC that she fills the iPods with her favorite songs and then delivers them to the soldiers.

According to a spokesperson for Nicks, the performer will issue a greatest hits album next spring. Any further plans will be announced early next year.

Nicks' last solo album, "Trouble in Shangri-La," was released in 2001. Her latest with Fleetwood Mac, "Say You Will," came out in 2003 and was followed by an extensive world tour and two DVD releases.

Nicks, who currently has only two shows scheduled in the coming months (shown below), toured Australia and New Zealand this year and tagged along on several dates with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
