Music Experience accompanies Ski Tour

The slopes will be rockin' this winter as more than 30 bands take part in a multi-day skiing competition and music festival that will hit top resorts in Sun Valley, ID; Breckenridge, CO; Aspen/Snowmass, CO; and Squaw Valley, CA.

Acts including Hinder , Michael Franti & Spearhead , Blackalicious , Donavon Frankenreiter , The Wailers, DJ Logic, DJ Jillian Ann, Swollen Members and Kamphire Collective will play the BaseCamp Music Experience as part of the debut Ski Tour, according to a press release. Dates are listed below; performers for specific dates haven't been announced.

The off-hill entertainment will be set up in a 14,000-square-foot heated pavilion that occupies a city block and accommodates 3,000 people. In addition to concerts, the pavilion will host an array of activities including bonfires, a film festival, fashion shows and several parties.

The Ski Tour will see some of the world's best skiers compete for $500,000--the largest purse in the sport. All four ski events will be televised on network television in one-hour shows.

Organizers hope to broaden the market for competitive skiing by pairing it with entertainment and making it more of a cultural experience, organizers said.
